You would have to be in a coma not to think that the news these days has gone from bad, to very bad to, to how bad can it get? But sometimes, something can happen to make me smile again. Such a mood altering event happened tonight as I noticed an unsolicited email drop into my Inbox as I was shutting down my computer. It was a news release that announced: "Russia continues to display increased international competitiveness within the 36 disciplines ranked for QS World University Rankings by Subject, published at www.topumversities. com." Probably spam, I thought. But I was intrigued enough to check Wikipedia. And I was surprised to learn that the information might actually be credible. According to Wikipedia, "QS World University Rankings are an annual university rankings published by UK-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The publication is one of the three most influential and widely observed international university rankings, alongside the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities."
