Farnham Pottery

Three years ago Farnham Pottery was under the threat of demolition to make way for a housing development. The rabbit-warren of warm terracotta-coloured brick buildings complete with one remaining wood-fired bottle kiln represents the best-preserved example of a Victorian country pottery in England. The Farnham (Building Preservation) Trust stepped in, buying the now Grade II listed pottery site and is undertaking essential restoration work with a view to bringing new life to the pottery.Until recently the business was still being run by the founder's great-great grandson but he finally gave up, unable to balance the needs of his outside career with that of the pottery business. The Trust is now seeking professional potters to establish workshops within this exceptional site.
