Method of calculating the material balances of complex process flow diagrams incorporating recycled materials

A convenient method of calculating complex material balances of ramified process flow diagrams in light of the use of recycled materials is presented. The capacity for rapid recalculation of the balance as the composition of the initial stock, indices of extraction by element, and the parameters of the fabrication operations vary is incorporated into the method. The advantages of the proposed method by comparison with commonly used computer program packages are shown.
