Mononuclear sulfato, hexaaqua, and hydroxocomplexes of Ru(III) formed in sulfuric acid, alkaline solutions, orin the hydroxide phase are studied by the electron paramagneticresonance (EPR) method. An analysis of the EPR spectralparameters (g-factors and hyperfine coupling constants) within theframework of the ligand field theory shows that the electronicstructures of the complexes in solution are analogous; the energyof the axial distortion for these complexes is (2.5-3.0) X10~3cm~-1. An assessment of the parameter of the dipole-dipoleinteraction for [Ru(H_2O)_6]~3+ points to a significantdelocalization of the unpaired electron from the d_xy metal orbitalover the ligands.
