摘要

The structure, the phase composition, and the properties of the surface layer in steel and cast iron castings are analyzed after alloying by B_4C-Ti and B_4C-FeTi compositions during lost-foam casting using different methods of their introduction. It is found that, irrespective of the method of introducing an alloying composition, the processes of physicochemical interaction between the alloying-composition components and a poured melt (according to the mechanism of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis) lead to the formation of titanium and iron borides, nitrides, carbides, and carbonitrides.
