Global rubber output up 5.1%

GLOBAL OUTPUT OF natural rubber (NR) and synthetic rubber (SR) is estimated to have reached 22.7 million tonnes in the twelve months to March 2010, compared to a production of 21.6 million tonnes at the same point in 2009, an increase of 5.1%. While the data point to a strong recovery in global supply since last September, when the YOY growth rate hit a low of -11.5%, the output is still around a million tonnes below its peak reached in July 2008.
