The year 2000 was an outstanding one for makers of German plastics and rubber machines, which hit all-time highs in production and exports. Production in core machinery business soared to a new record level of 3.9 billion EUR. For 2001, however, the VDMA reckons that a reluctance to invest will see production fall by 5%.
