THE ROBERT B. Ferguson Museum of Mineralogy, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada: Its Past and Present

The Robert B. Ferguson Museum of Mineralogy in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Manitoba is the largest public mineral collection in central Canada. Although the museum's origins can be traced back to 1918, it was not established formally until 1971. Some twenty years later, it was renamed in honor of Professor Emeritus Robert Bury "Bob" Ferguson. Ferguson was instrumental in organizing and displaying the museum collection and led the mineralogical research at the University of Manitoba through almost four decades of rapid growth to its present level of excellence, which is recognized far beyond Canada's borders.
