Automatic rolling technology for a fully continuous cold tandem mill

A new presetting system giving the optimal rolling speed pattern has been developed at the No. 2 fully continuous cold tandem mill in Sumitomo Steel Works. The optimal strip rolling speed pattern is calculated in order to prevent unnecessary decelerations and minimizing the total strip length accumulated in the loop-car before rolling. The new system is now applied and operates the mill automatically without reducing the production efficiency.
