Ottawa, ON - The Java-Log, an artificial fire log made principally from used coffee grounds, is now available nationally. The product was first tested regionally, close to its manufacturing base in Ottawa, and was extremely well-received by consumers, says Marcel Sbrollini, President and CEO of Robustion Products Inc. Now, with the cold weather upon us, the product will be distributed across the country in a number of retail chains. It is also available in selected retail locations in the Northeastern United States. The attributes of spent coffee grounds are superior to wood for this product, says Sbrollini. Manufactured fire logs are mostly made of sawdust. Compared to the conventional product, the Java-Log produces three times as much flame and generates 25 per cent more energy, he says. It also generates les carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas) and produces less soot.
