Every day, countless public facilities are subjected to wilful damage and wanton destruction. Lifts in particular often bear the brunt of vandals' destructive tendencies. In practice, it is extremely difficult to provide one-hundred-percent protection against such activities, but nevertheless, more and more attention is being directed towards designing and developing safe lift systems - a trend from the beginning, even before the implementation of the EN 81-71 standard, which aims at increasing the safety of lifts.
