Actor Kevin Costner and BP's Chief Operation Officer Doug Suttles have introduced the Ella G, a bright orange barge designed to skim and separate oil spilling from the damaged Macondo well using the actor's technology.

The barge set sail for the first time Thursday. According to BP, the vessel is now one of the company's "vessels of opportunity." It has been retrofitted to hold one of the oil cleaning machines that Costner has been promoting. The barge was supplied by Edison Chouest Offshore, which also assembled the equipment on it.
