BDI-BioEnergy commission for world's largest multi-feedstock biodiesel plant

Germany-based biofuel technology company BDI-BioEnergy AG (BDI) has signed a contract with Biodiesel Amsterdam, a subsidiary of Simadan Holding, to construct a biodiesel plant in The Netherlands. The new facility will use waste animal and vegetable fats as feedstock to produce an extra 150,000 tonnes of biodiesel per year for the company, which already has 100,000 tonnes of capacity at the site. The new contract is valued at ? 47 million (US $ 63.6 million) and the additional capacity will make the facility the largest of its type in the world. A 50,000 tonnes per year glycerol distillation factory is also part of the project. BDI has also successfully started up France's largest multi-feedstock biodiesel plant at the port of Le Havre, for ES-TENER, which cost ? 16.4 million (US $ 22.2 million) to build and has a capacity of 75,000 tonnes per year.
