Statoil continues to set the pace as far as Northwest Europe-specific rig newbuilds are concerned. Following on from the July 2011 award of contracts for two Category D newbuild semis to Songa Offshore, Statoil has signed up two more such units from the same contractor. In July last year, it said it would consider the construction of another two units.
