Steels for cold forging for motor vehicle parts

To develop steels that is superior to cold forgeability incondition as rolled and have good fatigue properties in condition ascold forged, a design of chemical com- positions was performed usingplain carbon steel. Steels that contain lower carbon than that ofconven- tional plain carbon steel have a good cold forgeability. Itwas found that in lower carbon steels fatigue prop- erties wereimproved, too.
