Jellicoe Towers was a radical new addition to Wellington's skyline when I was a child in the 1960s. It was The Terrace's first residential high-rise - an early addition to the capital's apartment stock and still one of the most notable. The building's architect, Allan Wild, was also responsible for a number of other blocks - Oriental Bay's Clifton Towers, Dorchester and (in part) Oriana - that date from the same era.
