Alison Bowron is in a tizz. A well-controlled tizz. When we call she is two days out from a son's wedding and there's been a drought for the last four months. It's a busy time for her home-stay business and on top of that she has visitors coming through Hunter's Garden Marlborough. It's almost too much. "That's the stock agent on the phone," she announces. "I hope nothing has gone wrong. We are trying to get stock away. This time of year is madness anyway." With customary country hospitality, however, we are fed and watered and in due course shown the garden.
