High prevalence of rhinitis in the Belgian population

About three quarters of people who seek medical help for rhinitis have moderate to severe symptoms, according to researchers from Belgium.They surveyed a representative sample of the population (n=4,959) with an overall prevalence of self-declared recent rhinitis symptoms of 39.3 per cent. Detailed information on people having experienced nasal symptoms over the past year was then obtained from a random sample of 743 respondents.
