Health visitor shortage is leaving children vulnerable, peer warns

The government risks serious damage to public health if it does not fix the crisis in health visiting, a leading social exclusion campaigner has warned.Lord Adebowale, chief executive of social care provider Turning Point, said that one in five health visitors have caseloads of up to 1,000 families. 'Children are at risk,' he said.'We have moved away from universal access to health visiting in an attempt to target need when it arises, but we never know where that need is going to pop up,' the crossbench peer said.
