Anne Borsay

Anne Borsay (nee Howard), professor of health care and medical humanities in the College of Human and Health Sciences at Swansea University, has died after a short illness.Anne began university life with a degree in social sciences at Swansea. She then studied in Oxford with an Economic and Social Research Council studentship, where she developed a particular interest in community care for people with physical disabilities.In 1978, she moved to the University of Wales, Lampeter, where her teaching and research initially concentrated on contemporary social policy. From the late 1980s, however, she began to focus on the historical development of health and social care, and in 1999 she published Medicine and Charity in Georgian Bath, a social history of Bath General Infirmary.
