In memory of Mark A. Smith (1965-2010): leading researcher in the fields of Alzheimer's disease, particularly with regards to his groundbreaking work on oxidative stress and mitochondria dysfunction. He was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Alzheimer,s Disease and he published over 800 peer-review articles and reviews that received over 21,000 citations. His friendly, open and relaxed approach to his research helped him to become one of the top Alzheimer's disease researchers in the world, one of the top 100 most-cited scientists in Neuroscience & Behavior, and one of the top 25 scientists in free radical research.
