摘要

Historically, training for clinical practitioners working in nuclear medicine has come from two professional disciplines - medical physics technologists and radiographers. Through the British Nuclear Medicine Society and the formation of the Technologist Group (now the Clinical Practitioners Group) these two professions have been brought together to support common training and education. Training for clinical technologists was well established in some areas of the country, supported by the Institute for Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM). Students enrol on a vocational degree in clinical technology (accredited by IPEM) and register with the IPEM. The honours degree comprises academic modules running alongside competency-based clinical practice, with practical work-based attachments at an accredited training centre (part 1 and part 2).
