Seed potatoes must remain healthy.

Seed potatoes are grown on 6% of potato fields and on 20% of potato fields on 70 farms in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Data (2007) are tabulated on susceptibility of potato cultivars to PVY (potato Y virus) and PLRV (potato leafroll virus), host plants and vectors of PVY. Flight activity data of vectors during 1993-2004 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are presented, as well as the effects of insecticides on aphid numbers during 1999-2005. Insecticides allowed in potato in 2007 are also tabulated.
