Los Angeles Area Communities Receive Sound Insulation Funds

Communities impacted by noise from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will benefit from more than $30 million in funds allocated for residential sound insulation. The grants by FAA and Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) will provide noise reduction for a total of more than 1,100 homes. The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners authorized $15.42 million and FAA is providing $5 million to insulate 624 dwelling units in the Athens, Del Air, and Lennox communities of Los Angeles County. The grants are expected to cover acoustical, architectural, engineering, construction, and administrative costs.
