Macroscopic functional networks in the human cerebral cortex were identifi ed by independent components analysis of fMRI data obtained during viewing, imagination, and recall of video clips. Networks were relatively stable in structure, but had specifi c dynamics in different experimental conditions. Comparison of the networks identifi ed with previously detected resting state networks, showed that these were in the same location. The characteristics of the activation of the peripheral and central parts of the retinotopic projection of the visual cortex were identifi ed. The peripheral areas were activated on viewing, on imagination, and on recall. Conversely, the central sectors showed increased activation on viewing and decreases in their activity on imagination and recall.
