Tokyo Gas Buys Eagle Ford Stake, Ends Foreign Investment Drought

Low prices have emboldened Japan's largest gas utility, Tokyo Gas, to acquire a stake in the South Texas Eagle Ford Shale in a bid to expand its international business and strengthen its position across the LNG value chain. Under the terms of the deal, Tokyo Gas will acquire a 25% working interest and 34,000 net acres from privately held VirTex Producing that is part of a joint development project with privately held Lewis Energy Group and UK major BP.
