The energy industry continues sailing, somewhat slowly now, into a new era of offshore drilling that includes many new rules and regulations that, according to one industry advocacy group, are getting murkier with each passing day. Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has announced a series of requirements that deepwater operators would have to meet in order to get their permits from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management — including one that the company can contain an offshore blowout in a certain amount of time.
