With the North Texas Barnett Shale churning out roughly 6% of total US gas production and a bevy of new shale discoveries cropping up all over North America, the Woodford Shale of Oklahoma often gets lost in the shuffle. According to Newfield Exploration, the Woodford's current industry-wide output is roughly 550 million cubic feet per day — a somewhat paltry number compared to the 3.6 billion cubic feet per day currently coming out of the Barnett.
