When the former management team of what was then El Paso Energy Bridge and their financial backer acquired the business from the financially strapped former energy merchant in late 2003, they expected to be global merchants in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) business. They renamed the company Excelerate, and their business is global, but not in the way they had envisioned.
