The Alaska Legislature has reached the final stages of debate on legislation that would significantly tone down the state's oil and gas production tax burden. As the bill sailed pass the House and now sits before the State Senate, producers have indicated that a lighter tax burden could attract investment in undeveloped oil and gas plays, including the Point Thomson gas condensate field or gas-prone deposits in and around the National Petroleum Eeserve-Alaska.
