US Gas Production Jumps Despite Slowdown in Natural Gas Drilling

Despite an overall decline in the number of gas-directed rigs working in the US this year, natural gas production jumped more than 2 billion cubic feet per day in March, according to data from the federal Energy Information Administration (NGWApr.ll,pl). EIA figures show that US gas production averaged 64.84 Bcf/d in March, up 2.26 Bcf/d from February and 3.36 Bcf/d above the year-earlier period. The figures highlighted production growth in Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico, home to the booming Permian Basin, Eagle Ford and Haynesville shales.
