摘要

ATLANTA-The language delays and disruptions experienced by children with autism may trace back to problems with the way auditory inputs are processed by the cortex, according to a new study.Sounds "heard" by autistic children may be so noisy and garbled that speech may not make any sense to them, researchers reported here at the Annual Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience. And that may make language acquisition next to impossible for these children, said Nicole M. Gage, PhD, an assistant researcher in the Department of Cognitive Sciences at the University of California-Irvine.
