Kazakhstan’s energy ministry has given a timely boost to Kazmunaigas Exploration Production (KMGEP), the London-listed affiliate of state oil giant Kazmunaigas (KMG), by extending its development licenses for the Uzen and Karamandybas fields in the western Mangistau region. The licenses were due to expire in 2021 and are now good until May 31, 2036. The decision comes just three weeks after the ministry prolonged by 15 years KMGEP’s license for the 50,000 b/d Karazhanbas field, which it is developing alongside Chinese state giant Citic (NC Jul.9’15).
