Gazprom Neft Wins Antimonopoly Case

Gazprom Neft, the oil arm of Russian state gas giant Gazprom, has won its first case against the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), which has accused it and three other oil firms of setting domestic product prices artificially high. The Federal Arbitrage Court re- jected the FAS' appeal against an ear- lier ruling that said it was inappropri- ate to fine Gazprom Neft 4.7 billion rubles ($156.5 million). The court said the FAS was unable to prove that Gazprom Neft had taken a dominant position in the market that made it hard for small firms to compete.
