No significant changes have occurred in the sector for coasters and river-sea vessels transportation in the Black Sea freight market in early January. Notwithstanding some downturn in business activity during holidays, freight rates for major cargos have got stable. Among the most frequently shipped cargoes from the Black Sea ports are steel products and steel raw materials, freight rates for these being relatively stable at the beginning of the year. Transportation of 5,000 tonnes of steel products from Odessa to the Marmara ports is still charged $17.5/t, while 3,000 tonnes of steel scrap are still shipped at $22.5/t on the same route.
