The results of field experiments conducted on alluvial soils during 1994 - 95 and 1995-96 in farmers' fields of Kovur Sugar Factory area of Nellore district, Andlira Pradesh revealed that sugarcane responds to organic manures when used in integrationwith inorganic fertilizers. An additional cane yield of 14-271 ha~(-1) was realized with different organic manures + inorganic fertilizers over inorganic fertilizers alone. Among different organic sources, FYM and press mud proved superior in terms of cane yield and sugar yield respectively. There was a slight reduction in soil pH and increase in electrical conductivity with the application of organic manures. At the end of ratoon crop, it was found that the increase in available N and Ca was maximum (38.2 and 24.4%) with the application of FYM whereas, application of poultry manure resulted in highest increase in available P (122.2%) and available K (23.6%) and magnesium (47.4%) over initial soil values.
