Multivariate Multiple Regression Analysis of Investment and Non-Farm Income of Farmer in Cauvery Command of Karnataka

Agriculture plays an important role in Indian economy providing gainful employment to society and provides raw material for industries. Today, India ranks second worldwide in farm output with a majority of the rural population in India depending on agricultural occupation. However, the increased population, fragmented land, poverty etc has forced the rural population to divert their occupation from agriculture to other activities. These activities are known as rural non-farm activity (RNFA).The termnon-farm encompasses all the non-agricultural activities and animal husbandly taken up by the farm househalds. It includes manufacturing and processing activities, mining, quarrying, transport, trade and commerce, agricultural services in rural area, repairs, and other supporting services, traditional services like laundry, barber, traditional handicrafts, carpentry, blacksmith, oil processing, further the seasonal and contractual jobs unconnected with farming as such, available within the village or nearby town are a part of nonfarm activity (NFA).
