Listening Behaviour of Agricultural Community Radio Listeners and Adoption of Improved Technologies by Them

The present study was conducted in eight different villages from Baramati and Indapur blocks to study their listening behavior of the farmers, adoption of technologies by them and its relationship with their characteristics. The study revealed that maximum average score was recorded under days of listening per week followed by listening duration per day and information sharing with others respectively. Out of the eight parameters studied under the listening behaviour, the number of more frequency oflisteners was more under days of listening per week i.e more than 5 days per week followed by listening duration per day i.e. more than two hours and information sharing with others i.e. regularly. Most of the them adopted pesticides application technology (62.50%) and fertilizer application (57.50%) broadcast through radio. They listened more frequently the programmes like market rate of commodities, answer to the questions, farmers' interviews, experts interviews, and disease forecasting. A significant positive correlation was observed between adoption of technologies and the characteristics namely education, experience, land holding, annual income, area under field crops, area under fruits crops, livestock owned, cosmopoliteness, social participation, sources of information and listening behavior. Age and family size showed positive non significant correlation.
