Impact of Farmers Field Schools on Knowledge and Attitude of Rice Farmers and Extension Personnel towards Integrated Pest Management in Rice Cultivation

The study was conducted in five ditricts viz., Mandya, Mysore, Shimoga. Hassan and Bangalore Rural districts of Karnataka, to assess the impact of Farmers Field Schools (FFSs) on knowledge and to measure the attitude of farmers and extension personnelin respect of IPM practices in rice farming revealed that 53 per cent of trained farmers and 48 per cent of trained extension personnel had high knowledge of IPM practices of rice cultivation. The study also revealed that, 43 per cent of trained farmersand 37 per cent of trained extension personnel had more favourable attitude towards IPM practices in rice cultivation. Further, it also revealed that jo per cent of farmers and 42 per cent of extension personnel had low knowledge regarding IPM practices of rice, whereas, 33 per cent of farmers and 46 per cent of extension personnel had less favourable attitude towards IPM rice cultivation.
