A 54-year-old man with a history of end-stage renal disease was admitted to our ward with severe uraemic symptoms, including dyspnea, oliguria and overt oedema. The blood urea nitrogen, creatinine and haemoglobin levels at admission were 141 mg/dL, 16.0mg/DL and 11.1 g/dL, respectively. We inserted a haemodialysis catheter through the left internal jugular vein. Initially, haemodialysis was performed without complications. However, during the third course of haemodialysis, the patient reported extensive tightness in the anterior chest wall radiating to the back with cold sweating. Physical examination was normal, except hypotension (blood pressure 85/45 mmHg) with rapid heart beats.
