How effective are PPIs for the treatment of patients with peptic ulcer bleeding?

The efficacy of PPIs to reduce rates of rebleeding, and the need for surgery in patients with peptic ulcer bleeding has been demonstrated; however, PPIs have not been shown to reduce all-cause mortality in these patients. OBJECTIVES To perform a meta-analysis to determine the efficacy of PPIs for the treatment of peptic ulcer bleeding.
