Self-Assembly of Two-Dimensional Hexagon Shaped Gold Nanoparticle Film Using Solvent Evaporation Method

摘要

We describe a solvent evaporation method for fabrication of two-dimensional gold nanoparticle (GNP) thin film deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass substrate. GNP solution synthesized by seed-mediated growth method was utilized as the evaporation source. The micro-morphology analysis shows that the GNPs have a hexagon shape and a size of about 40 nm. From the high resolution scanning electron microscope, it is also found that the GNP thin film keeps monolayer structure and narrow gaps have been formed between neighboring particles with a distance of about 8 nm. At last, we studied the extinction spectra of the GNP solution and the GNP film. The results indicate that the localized surface plasmon resonance property is different from the GNP solution due to the plasmonic coupling effect of interaction between neighboring nanoparticles. This film may be utilized as an enhancement structure in light emitting device or as a SERS substrate in bio-chemical field.
