Atherosclerosis: Easy CIMT measures will do.

Carotid intima-media thickness (C1MT) is measured by ultrasonography and correlates with the extent of coronary heart disease (CHD), but some segments of the carotid artery are easier to image than others. A team of US-based scientists has now shown that relatively simple measurements of the common carotid artery (CCA-IMT) are just as good at predicting CHD risk than a more-frequentiy used method that involves the imaging of all carotid-artery segments (A-CIMT).
