Leigh Bryan is one of those farmers that 'gets' precision agriculture. Not afraid to have a crack at anything, Leigh has built a modified binocular camera system from which he collects his own normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) images. In the workshop, he builds his own shielded sprayers and fertiliser booms, while in the office Leigh is articulate in generating, manipulating and interpreting farm maps of all descriptions. It is little wonder his services have been employed to assist SwanHill outfit, Dodgshun Medlin, to assist their clients with precision farming programs. Zone mapping on the Bryan property drives three main variable rate inputs; seeding rate, nitrogen and sulphur.
