摘要

It is fair to say that more rural Australians have been affected by a natural disaster this year than not! Be it locusts, drought or floods it has certainly been an unusual and costly weather calendar. However, the impacts on farm businesses could belessened if they are eligible to receive support by way of a grant or concessional loan. To help cut through the red tape, Farming Ahead provides a list of the support programs available in each State. The Federal and Queeensland State Governments are deciding whether farmers are eligible for disaster relief as a result of recent flood damage. Currently there is only special flood assistance grant for growers for the March 2010 flood event. If disaster relief is activated for the current flood event (December 2010) eligible primary producers will be able to take out low-interest rate Government loans of up to 250,000 dollar for repairs of infrastructure and replanting and replacing livestock.
