Community initiative regains power and profit

A desire to have greater control over commodity marketing and the grain supply chain has seen an innovative approach by farmers to take control of their destiny. This is the second article in a two-part series exploring innovative agribusiness approaches that aim to boost the vitality of rural communities. Southern Agventure (SAV) is another group set to give southern New South Wales growers an alternative commodity marketing option, greater control of their industry and a future for their local communities. The concept aims to capture a greater share of post-farm gate profits by adding value to farm commodities, reducing supply chain costs and in the process creating employment in local communities.
