Sales of machine tools and plastics processing equipment are at their highest level in years. Could this be the result of the U.S. tax credits on machinery and equipment purchases that have been extended? "I think it has more to do with the economy turning around than tax breaks," says Henry Grace, a financing specialist with IFS Equipment Financing. "With inventories at many OEMs extremely low, there are new opportunities out there to supply these companies. There are more orders to be filled and with fewer players in the field there are fewer suppliers to fill them. So for those that are still in business, ... there's a need for more equipment."
