After pointing out the drastic violation of the U-matrix boundary condition by the conventional quantum-field-theoretical on-mass-shell renormalization of the electron propagator, a new consistent renormalization concept (without mass and charge renormalization) is presented. From the correctly renormalized bound-electron propagator (respectively, U-matrix), the natural line shape is for the first time, after 50 years, correctly calculated in QFT. [References: 23]
