Kuwait's challenging upstream business environment has taken another hit. The emirate's oil minister, Mohammad al-Busairi, said on August 18 2011 that a committee has been formed to examine the US$800mn service contract between state-run upstream monopoly Kuwait Oil (KOC) and Royal Dutch Shell that was signed in 2010. The committee will report its findings in three months, according to the emirate's official KUNA news agency.
