MAY RAINS DISRUPT CANE HARVEST

Sugar mills in Brazil's Centre/South crushed only 28.689 mln tonnes of cane in the first half of May, down sharply from 38.935 mln in the same period last year due to crushing stoppages caused by wet weather, Unica reported. The amount of cane crushed in the period under review was similar to the 26.675 mln tonnes in the second half of April.
